Master of Science in Neuroscience (MSNS)
2-Year Program
Overview
The Master of Science in Neuroscience (MSNS) program is designed to provide a didactic course and thesis-based curriculum for college graduates seeking a Master’s degree or interested in pursuing Neuroscience or Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. studies. The program introduces students to an array of research techniques and approaches to modern neuroscience with a focus on experimental design, as well as focusing on development of presentation and communication skills essential to a career in science.
In the Master of Science in Neuroscience program, students will:
- Integrate new knowledge of basic neurobiological function and emerging neuroscience technologies with an emphasis on experimental design and critical thinking.
- Students will learn about mechanisms involved in neurobiological disease, mental disorders and potential treatments.
- They will also gain practical experience in laboratory skills required for planning experiments, data acquisition, data analysis, and interpretation of data of thesis-driven research.
Who We Are
The Neuroscience Institute is located on the main campus of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ School of Medicine, and is part of the Atlanta University Center. There are 15 principal investigators in the institute participating in neuroscience research from the Department of Neurobiology and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Research areas include: the aging brain, circadian rhythm, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and vision.
